Lentil Balls
MEDUWADAI
| 2 cups urad dal |
a few curry leaves |
| 4 green chillies |
oil as needed |
| a pinch of asafoetida |
salt to taste |
| a pinch of soda bicarb |

* Soak the urad dal in water for 8 hours.
* Clean and grind to a smooth dry paste.
* Add chopped green chillies, asafoetida, soda bicarb,
salt and curry leaves.Add two tablespoons of hot water.
* Mix throughly and make small lemon-sized balls, flatten
and make a hole in the centre of each.Only a few should be made at a time
preferly one by one should be dropped in hot oil.
* Deep fry in the batches till golden brown. Drain and
serve with coconut chutney or sambhar.
