250 gms chana dal
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
8 green chillies
a pinch of asafoetida
1/4 bunch coriander leaves
oil ad needed
salt to taste
Soak the chana dal overnight in water.
Coarsely grind the dal with green chillies, cumin seeds and salt.
Heat 3 tbsps oil. Add the mustard seeds, asafoetida, turmsric powder and chilli powder.
Add the ground dal mixture and stir well.
Cook covered on low flame, stirring occasionally so that it does not stick to the pan.
When the dal is cooked,add the chopped coriander leaves.and serve hot.
