Lentil Appetizer
RASAM
1 cup thuvar dal 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
2 tsps sambhar powder a pinch of asafoetida
1/2tsp turmeric powder  1 ghee 
1 tsp mustard seeds a few curry leaves 
1 big tomato  salt to taste 
1/2cup tamarind pulp
* Soak the dal for an hour and pressure cookr till soft.Mash well
* Boil tamarind pulp. Add chopped tomatoes, sambhar powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida and boil till the raw smell disappears. Add cooked dal and salt to taste .
* Boil for minutes. Add 2 cups of cold water. Similar for 5 to 7 minutes.
* Heat one tbsp ghee.Fry the mustasrd seeds and the curry leaves.Pour over rasam   .Add chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
